Taking into account that our affiliates work from day to day to bring sustenance to their homes, the Confederation of Self-Employed Workers CTCP, we began a coordination process in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and other State Institutions such as Intranma and Conmema, It was possible to start a training process for all grassroots union leaders on all prevention measures against Covid-19.

These trainings allowed the development of an awareness campaign and visits to each of the Unions affiliated to our Trade Union Organization, managing to visit more than 70 Unions in the seven districts of Managua and the departments of Rivas, Peñas Blanca Border Post, Borders with Costa Rica, Guasaule Border Post, Chinandega department Border with Honduras, El Espino in Madriz department, Manos Border Post in Nueva Segovia department Border with Honduras, San Pancho Border Post in Rio San Juan department Border with Costa Rica, Of which 3,500 workers were sensitized, including 300 workers at home, in addition, actions were developed in conjunction with the Mayor’s Office of Managua, the Managua transport regulatory Institute (INTRANMA) and the Managua Market Corporation (COMMEMA), achieving the disinfection of more than 500 taxis, 1000 Mototaxis, 20 Bus stops and 5 Market s of Managua, with the purpose of creating an environment of trust between users and self-employed workers who provide and render their services on a daily basis, thus guaranteeing their economies and being affected as little as possible.

It should be noted that in Nicaragua there was no quarantine, nor did it work (Stay at home), self-employed workers, therefore home-based workers, continued to develop their economic activities, but always taking into account all the prevention measures directed by the Government of Nicaragua and the Ministry of Health.

Another action that our affiliates developed was solidarity with those colleagues, who were affected or who have fallen ill, this solidarity has been with the delivery of food packages, taking them to their homes while they can return to work and the protection of their job.

It only remains for us to say that we have had the permanent support of the Government, its institutions and fundamentally the Ministry of Health, we will continue working hand in hand with our affiliates to continue promoting and maintaining all prevention and self-care measures in the face of the pandemic.

UNITED, ORGANIZED AND TRAINED WE ARE INVINCIBLE!!!
