VISION: ‘Strengthening the Livelihood Initiative of Home Based Workers in the SAARC Region’
MISSION: SABAH Bhutan is a Public Benefit Organization that functions as a social enterprise model with a primary purpose of strengthening the livelihood initiatives of the Home-Based Workers by providing capacity building, training and marketing skills to the members HBWs, thereby enhancing better facilities for self-sustained income generation and employment. SABAH Bhutan has registered about 1743 home based workers in 19 Districts till date.
MACCS also places environmental conservation and protection at the heart of their work, as revival of traditional handicrafts is dependent on healthy mangroves and ecosystems in the islands. Based in the capital city Malé, MACCS was founded by a group of women to assist and promote the development of local handicrafts industry. Registered in 2011, MACCS promotes local arts and crafts and facilitates market access for local products while working towards environmental sustainability.
MACCS is committed, through its cooperative, to support & educate local communities in environmental conservation and the revival of handicrafts, thereby making it a sustainable livelihood activity.
