In this section, we will explore the unique challenges, contributions, and the impact home-based workers have on supply chains. With these webinars, HNI aims to expand the conversation and shed light on the importance of fair and equitable treatment for homeworkers and the need for sustainable practices within global supply chains.

Homeworkers in Garment Supply Chains

On September 8, 2023, HNI gathered leaders, workers and allies to discuss the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on homeworkers activities, to share the advocacy work done by HNI and its affiliates, and also to announce the start of a new global study on homeworkers in garment supply chains

Home-Based Workers: The Essential Link in Supply Chains

HNI and WIEGO hosted an NGO CSW66 Forum side event on March 14, 2022, where worker representatives from Latin America, Africa, South Asia and SouthEast Asia held a discussion on the role of home-based workers within domestic and global supply chains, the challenges they face, their approaches and effective policies that safeguard their rights and livelihoods.

Why EU Mandatory Due Diligence Legislation Must Include Homeworkers

As part of the 8th OECD Forum on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector, HomeNet International along with regional organisations, HomeNet South Asia and HomeNet SouthEast Asia, Women in Informal Employment Organising and Globalising (WIEGO), HomeWorkers Worldwide and Traidcraft Exchange, held a side session on February 25, 2022, titled: “A chain is only as strong as its weakest link: Why EU mandatory due diligence legislation must include homeworkers.”
