Launch of the parliamentary front in support of informal economy workers

From December 2 to 4, we were in the national capital, Brasília, alongside street vendors, waste pickers, app workers, and domestic workers to advocate for government action. Our requests included the issuance of a decree to establish a national dialogue table and support for the requisition of signatures for the formal creation of our parliamentary front.

The meeting brought together workers from the five sectors, the International Labour Organization (ILO), CUT (Unified Workers’ Central), WIEGO, the General Secretariat of the Presidency, the Ministry of Labor, and other guests. ATEMDO meets with refugee and migrant women home-based workers

On November 17, 2024, ATEMDO organized a meeting with immigrant home-based women workers who are part of the CEMIR program – Center for Immigrant and Refugee Women.

ATEMDO was invited to speak about the solidarity economy, collective work, and the methodology of home-based work, along with its key advocacy points. One of our directors mediated the session, which aimed to introduce these methodologies and provide guidance on basic rights for immigrants, such as:

Organizing fairs to provide opportunities

Throughout 2024, we organized nine fairs, including a special one in December. These access to market activities have significantly supported ATEMDO workers in generating income and expanding the home-based work methodology through product sales.

This movement fosters empowerment, self-management, and financial autonomy, benefiting a large number of women by enabling them to generate income and acquire knowledge through practical workshops.
