Work supplied through garment supply chains provides a vital source of income for millions of home-based women garment workers in South Asia. It also allows Brands to meet fast-changing consumer demands and produce at an astounding scale. Known as HOMEWORKERS, these women are essential to global supply chains but are paid extremely low piece rates and have little security in their work arrangements.
At this event homeworkers from South Asia will discuss the realities of their work and we will launch “Working in Garment Supply Chains: A Homeworker’s Toolkit” – essential reading for homeworkers and the organisers, civil society organisations and Brands that work with them.
